Specify the fabric before comparing the price
ISS reviews fabric supply enquiries across woven, knitted, dyed and printed requirements. Begin with fibre composition and intended application, then add GSM, usable width, construction, finish, colour reference and quantity. If a sample is available, state whether it is an exact target or a guide to appearance. An identical colour name or commercial fabric name can conceal different compositions, constructions and performance.
Use cluster knowledge to shortlist, then verify the mill
Ahmedabad and Surat provide useful starting points for discovering suitable sources. Public mill portfolios show different strengths across cotton and blended wovens, polyester constructions, dyeing and printing. Qualification must establish which facility performs each step and whether the quoted supplier is a factory, converter or trader. Supplier website evidence supports a shortlist; it does not establish an ISS partnership, current capacity, approved certification or availability for your order.
Woven and knitted buying decisions
For wovens, include weave, yarn count and density if these control the application; examples include poplin, twill, oxford and jacquard. For knits, include structure, stretch and recovery requirements where relevant; jersey, rib, interlock and pique should not be treated as interchangeable. A fabric sold by weight needs an agreed basis for translating roll lengths and width into the commercial quantity. Greige, prepared-for-dyeing and finished fabric are distinct buying specifications.
Colour, printing and finishing
Agree lab-dip approval for solid colours and strike-off approval for prints, together with repeat size, artwork ownership and shade references. State whether the finish must survive a defined laundering cycle. Any functional claim, such as flame resistance or water repellency, needs the applicable test method and threshold. Certification of a company or a different product does not establish the performance of the offered fabric.
Sampling, MOQ and inspection
Ask whether MOQ applies to a weave, knitting lot, colour, print design or finish. Confirm sampling quantity and cost separately from bulk production. Set checks for composition, GSM, usable width, shrinkage, colourfastness, defects and roll-to-roll shade continuity. Specify the agreed fabric inspection method and acceptance level; do not assume a particular grading system is included. Roll identification should preserve lot and colour traceability through packing.
Prepare a supply enquiry
Send the composition, construction, weight, width, quantity, colour or artwork, end use, sample needs and destination. Add the certification or test requirements and required delivery basis. ISS will identify missing specification decisions and seek a qualified supply route before committing to price, production or delivery. We supply under the agreed commercial scope and coordinate inspection and export requirements for the order.
